How To Use Floor Grinders
Sep 15 , 2022

Regular types of floor grinders:

Walk-behind type

This is a large floor grinder that is used to grind concrete over the body of the floor, it is best suitable for wide areas. These tools are either powered by electric, petrol, diesel, or natural gas.

Handheld type

Handheld floor grinders are typically used to grind tight surfaces and corners, where a bigger tool might find it difficult to reach. The grinding process of this tool produces large amounts of dust which can be taken out via an extraction hose attached to the unit.

Inspecting Your Floor Grinder

Before your begin using your floor grinder it’s important to inspect it thoroughly. Do a walkthrough of these steps to make sure it’s safe to use.

How to inspect floor grinders?

Check your electrical cord for any cuts or bulges. If you discover any damage, remove and replace the electrical cord before using your floor grinder.

Inspect the plug for any exposed wiring or other damage.

Check the connection cables where the go into the machine to see if there are loose connections. Tighten the bolts with channel locks rather than tighten by hand.

Check and add oil as needed and clean your dust filter.

Check under the machine to ensure the tool plate and adapters are in good condition with no burrs, chips, or missing parts. Also, look closely at the couplers for any bulges. A damaged coupler can lead to uneven cuts or deep gouges in your slab.

Check the gear box assembly for any oil leaks from the motor.

Around the bottom of the shroud are the rubber dust bands that contain debris and slurry. Check these bands for any cracks or wear.

In addition to this, make sure your dust collection machine is properly attached, and you’ll be ready to start your work for the day.

(The effect by using our diamond tools)

Choose the right diamond shoes for your floor grinders:

These are the three main types of diamond shoes:

General-purpose shoes – these are all-rounders and strong enough to get rid of vinyl glue, tough epoxy, and aggressive concrete. They are the most used diamond shoes due to versatility.

Carbide shoes – these are coated with tough carbide, making them perfect for tough jobs that the general-purpose shoes can’t accomplish. They are best used for the removal of the toughest glues.

Floor polishing shoes – these can be used wet or dry. You may wet the surface before polishing with these shoes to achieve a smoother finish.
