The bond mainly depends on its own properties. The superabrasive abrasive bond mainly includes: resin bond, ceramic bond and metal bond.

Resin Bond (B) : The bond itself has good elasticity and has a polishing effect, and the bond is easy to burn at high temperature. Resin abrasives have good self-sharpening performance and are not easy to block; they are rarely re-dressed after one dressing, with high grinding efficiency, low grinding roughness, and low grinding temperature. They are widely used among abrasives. Resin bond diamond abrasives are used for semi-finishing and fine-grinding of cemented carbide tools, steel-bonded cemented carbide workpieces and some non-metallic materials. Resin cubic boron nitride abrasive tools are mainly used for sharpening high vanadium high speed steel tools, semi-finishing and precision grinding of tool steel, die steel, stainless steel and heat-resistant alloy steel workpieces.

Ceramic Bond (V) : Ceramic bond has high strength, good heat resistance, sharp cutting, high grinding efficiency, not easy to heat and block during grinding, small thermal expansion, easy to control machining accuracy, easy to dress and so on advantages. Ceramic bond abrasives are generally used for rough grinding, semi-finishing grinding, forming grinding with large contact area, grinding of superhard abrasive sintered bodies, etc.

Metal Bond (M) : Metal bond is divided into bronze bond and electroplating bond. Bronze bond has good rigidity, high strength, good wear resistance, long service life, good shape retention, and can withstand large loads advantages. However, its self-sharpening is poor, it is easy to block and generate heat, and it is difficult to trim. Bronze bond diamond abrasive tools are mainly used for rough, fine grinding and cutting of metal materials such as glass, ceramics, stone, concrete, semiconductor materials and super hard materials. Little of them are used for rough and form grinding of cemented carbide and honing of various materials. CBN abrasives can be used for forming grinding of metal materials and honing of various alloys.

The plating bond is stronger. The abrasive tool has thin abrasive layer, high abrasive grain density, sharp cutting surface of the grinding wheel, high grinding efficiency, good economic benefit, no need to dress, but the abrasive tool has a short life. The electroplating bond is mainly suitable for the production of complex shaped abrasive tools, small grinding heads, nesting knives, cutting knives, cutting saw blades, electroplating reamers and high-speed grinding methods.
